BRIEF: CREATE A RULES BASED INTERACTIVE DIGITAL DRAWING SYSTEM

This was a fun project to work on at the beginning of year one. It was the first time I used creative coding ever, in a fun way. Using processing, I had to incorporate some constraints within the system. I decided these would be the colour, shape and size of the drawn elements on the screen. This means that the user will only be able to draw with the shapes we give them, the sizes we set, and the colours included.

I also designed a keyboard layout (seen in the image carousel above)  which shows the user playing which buttons do what. I created this keyboard template using Adobe Illustrator. The buttons that aren’t used in the program have had their opacity reduced. I believe that this clearly shows the user which buttons they can press on their keyboard to get an outcome. Yes, I could have excluded the keys that are not used in the program however, we believed that this would create confusion to the user. This way, the user can figure out the location of the keys much easier. The buttons are filled in with the colour available to draw in, and the available shapes.
